strong gas smell coming from engine area along w/smoke..what up?my mechanic replaced cat con., new plugs and wires, now he says i have gas in my oil? what steps should i take, head gaskets?

mechanical fuel pump sometimes when they go bad will put feul in the oil if you have one change it:cool:

I can smell it from here! It's flooded. That's usually from the carb but sometimes a mechanical fuel pump can fail and allow gas into the crankcase. How about you telling us more about your car so we can limit the guessing?
