Looking at front end and master body hardware kits tonight off e aby and from Ricks. Has anyone here bought these before and can comment on them? I need them primarily for the under hood, is it worth it to buy the master body kit? Most of my hardware on my RS came from various coffee cans in the garage. Looking to freshen everything up and use parts they may help in alignment of some sheet metal.

Only buy AMK. Not sure who sells what. I bought a front end kit from NPD and it was not good. No bolts were marked and they are not even close to correct. Most bolts were to short to even use. I used a kit from AMK on a Mustang and all bolts were individully bagged and marked and were exactly the same as original.

AMK lists Ricks an NPD as dealers on their website. I got my kit from NPD but it wasnt AMK so might want to check when you order.

The Master kits (body, chassis, interior, underhood) from Rick's are AMK.

I like the kits a lot, myself. They are mostly complete and correct, individually bagged and labeled. Also includes the AIM page for reference to what it is and where it goes.

If you only need a few, Ace Hardware carry's black pointy washer head bolts.

I've spent a lot of time looking at AMK's online catalog. There is an index in the back that cross references GM part numbers to AMK's catalog numbers. One thing I found out the hard way is that if the catalog has a notation that a fastener is similar (sim) to a GM fastener, that means it's not an exact match - maybe not even close. Yes, it will serve the purpose, but it is not the same. Case in point is the captured washer screw that fastens the exhaust hanger to the trunk pan. My original GM screw has a pointed tip and is probably an eight to a quarter inch longer than the flat-tipped fastener I got from AMK. Many will not care, but for those who do - be forewarned to pay close attention to the notations in the catalog.

No, it isnt all dead-on correct. Most of it is pretty good, though.

I compare the new to the originals, and if its not right I'll go ahead and restore the originals.

I got the stainless kit...individually labeled and I thought it was very good. The kit had black stainless bolts on exposed area, but mostly common silver stainless steel. You have to lower your torque tightening a little and the info with the kit goes over this.I dont know that all the bolts were astetically correct or anything but they work well, and I cut off so many rusted bolts during my restore I think I drove 3M's stock up buying cut-off whells...I just had to go back with stainless.
