ErisAngelus Dec 14th, 06, 02:53 PM You guys showed intrest in the numbers under the hood of my Camaro. I finally found the plate and spend a while scrubbing it untill it was as readable as possible.
Here is what I found and I dont know what any of it means.
ST6912437 Nor10101I2BDY
TR 715 50 50 PNT
08D x11
johnnysalami Dec 14th, 06, 04:43 PM eris,
this is the trim tag and decodes as such:
st69 = year: 1969
12437 = body style: coupe
nor = manufacturing plant: norwood ohio
10101 = body sequential number
tr 715 = interior: blue standard
50 = exterior color: dover white
08d = built the 4th week of august
x11 = ss350
Jonesy Dec 14th, 06, 05:51 PM Decode for body number: 101012
08D = Built the Fourth week of August.
69-12437 = Coupe.
NOR = Built in Norwood Ohio.
715 = Standard Dark Blue Bucket Seats.
50-50 = Car Color is Dover White
X11 = non-SS396, non-Z28, with style trim
X11 does not mean SS350 as said above. It could be an SS if it has the right original components.
zdld17 Dec 14th, 06, 05:51 PM Neon Pink? Go back to white or Mary Kay pastel pink? Any reason why Neon Pink?

It was a custom color my mom had made to match a feather she had hanging from the mirror.
It is a SS from some paperwork I found. However, it had a grill replacement so you dont see it there. I need to get an SS grill.
clwilcox33 Dec 14th, 06, 09:18 PM The grill is the same, just an emblem on it.

Well, guess its worth a tribute to Mom. It's good reason to restore. Hope my kids think of me this way with my car when I check out. It's been said that we are only handlers of these cars for future generations.
JOE58 Dec 15th, 06, 05:28 AM welcome to the site...
there are many here that will help you to restore your mom's car.
If you can post pictures it will help the process
Everett#2390 Dec 15th, 06, 07:14 AM Thought about the album yet? You can never have too many pictures.
1967rsssconv Dec 15th, 06, 09:02 AM hi i already chimed in when you first posted with the pics , its great that you found out your moms car was a real ss , now not only is it a great tribute to your mom, but it will be the envey of many with that x11 tag , good luck with her and take your time , enjoy it ... chris :yes:
click Dec 15th, 06, 09:11 AM Eris what paper work do you have? Can you share that with us please. Just a repeat of the posts above, the x11 does NOT mean SS at all. x11 is only a trim option package. If you have other info. it would be easier for folks to help you confirm that it is or is not an SS.
drdave69 Dec 15th, 06, 09:15 AM If you haven't already, also list the VIN.
Where in GA are you?

Based on the pics, unless the brakes have been changed, it is not an SS. For the 69 model year, the SS package included power front disc brakes. Your underhood shot shows a manual master cylinder (no big brake booster).
This jives with the fact that the car has the Style Trim (chrome gills on the fender, chrome trim on the drip rails over the doors, etc.) but base emblems (blue bowties front and rear, and on the steering wheel shroud). It looks like the engine displacement emblem has been removed from the front fenders (ahead of the side marker lights), but I don't see a throttle cable sticking out of the firewall.
So, assuming you have a VIN on the dash starting with 124379Nxxxxxxx, it was a base V8 car when it rolled off the line.
ErisAngelus Dec 15th, 06, 04:31 PM The paper work is only old hard wrote stuff. The acount of my grandmother who bought the car for my mom. I am looking fo rmore numbers.. where can I find other ones on the car. I only know where to find the one plat behind the engin...

I agree. The car does not look to be a real SS car.:noway: However you inherited from your mom so that should make it priceless.
:thumbsup: :thumbsup:
Good luck with the resto,There is Lots of help here on this site.:beers:
Unreal Dec 15th, 06, 05:52 PM For the record, the,SS grill and non-SS grill are not the same. The SS grill is black, and the non-SS grill is silver. There are a couple of body color exceptions, but white is not one of them.
ErisAngelus Dec 15th, 06, 08:06 PM *Shurg* What is a super sport anyway. Is one better then the other? I feel like suck a girl sometimes with not knowing this. Sorry guys, just help me out.
Everett#2390 Dec 16th, 06, 12:19 PM Take a trip to www.camaros.org and read the info. Or visit other links/threads here and compare pictures. It'll educate you some as to the models and differences.

JOE58 Dec 17th, 06, 06:32 AM on a side note.....
In the 1960s there was a SCCA racer know as "the pink lady of racing" her name is Donna Mae Mimms and she is the first woman to win a SCCA national championship. Some of her race cars were painted pink. She was also the high performance manger at Yenko Chevrolet for many years. She raced Corvettes, Camaros, MGs, Sprites, and a pink Yenko Stinger
