Hi Everyone. Which is the best all-around welder to purchase. One that will give you the biggest variety of uses and won't cost a huge fortune. Maybe something by Lincoln or Miller?
Thanks. Todd

Have you tried the search function? This topic was discussed at length a couple of months ago.

I'm partial to the Miller 130XP (130 amp/ 110v)that I have been using for body and light frame work. It welds most "hobby" and automotive metals with ease (not recommended for roll bars or heavy/ custom frame work) plus it is very reliable. If you want to get a more versatile unit I'd go for a 220 volt model with at least 170 amps. The only difficulty is you need a dedicated 220v outlet for that machine and it is not very portable (other than around the shop).

Miller XP130 works well for me. Built a car with it. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Third vote for Millermatic 135. Be sure to go the extra bit and get the gas.

Millermatic 175 - very nice machine. Also, use gas by all means (Argon + CO2 mix) mix.

It depends if you want a 220v or a 110v I dont have any experiance with 110 welders but I could not get along without my Millermatic 251. It has a digital read out and you can really fine tune it. For a plasma cutter Hypertherm is impossible to beat. I use a Powermax 1000 but thats also used in the heavy equipment and fab shop. I got a buddy to get the Powermax 600 and he uses it for everything that need a cut.

Easy. HTP America makes the best welder. Just take a look at the stats and compare to the equivalent lincoln or miller machine. Look at the difference in what the machine weighs. The HTP's are much beefier.

I've got an HTP 140 as well and have nothing but praise for it.
