Had a quick question..I am rebuilding my rear end. Anyway I used a puller and got the carrier bearings off. It looks as though it has been rebuild once before. When I pulled the bearings off it looks like the old owner cut them off, and didn't do a careful job. On one of the "snout" surfaces on the carrier there is a 1/2 inch groove. It looks as though he cut them off and went to far with the wizzer wheel. Any I was wondering what I do about that? Is it a major concern?

Not likely to be a problem as long as it took some effort to get them off.

I was thinking it would probaly be OK but figuired I would ask. Does anyone know if they make a 3:55 gear for the 8.5 rears...I can only seem to find 3.42' and 3.73's?

There is no 3.55 for the 8.5 10 bolt. If this differential will be mostly for street use then it should be all right. If it will see heavy drag race use then you might want to swap it for one that isn't damaged.
