My car is just about ready for paint. Anyone have any recommendations for shops in the NJ area. Doesn't have to be in NJ, but closer is always better. Thanks

Doesn't have to be in NJ, but closer is always better. Thanks Toby Keen Mar 8th, 01, 11:50 PM I wish I could help you with a name but, I'm sorry, I can't. A couple of suggestions would be to check with your local auto paint stores and speed shops, or with people that own cars with the type of finish you are looking for. A word of caution: Check out whoever is refered. Everybody has friends in the business and not all of them do the best quality work. Ask for references and then go look at the work. Wes V Mar 9th, 01, 05:55 AM To start out, I have to say that I distrust paint / body shops. (I also don't trust contractors) Keep that in mind while reading my recommendations. I'd wouldn't bother with getting "referals"! Of course they are going to tell you to talk to one of their "happy" customers. His (or her) paint job will be one of the best that you have ever seen. Plus it only cost a couple hundred dollars. Body shops ALWAYS have photos of cars that they did showing a paint job that leaves you lusting. What I would recommend, and this would take a couple weeks, would be to stop by the shop every now and then and see the progress and quality of cars they are currently working on. Keep notes. DON'T BOTHER THE WORKERS! I know that this could make you seem like a pain in the rear to the shop, but you are looking at giving them a lot of money! If they don't want you looking around, are they also not going to want you to be there while they work on your car? ("we will call you when it's done") ------------------ Wes.
