this person selling these claims its original....and considering how many 140 speedo's were made for the yenko's (about 70) ....this person has sold at least 4 that i know of....so these are repop's , which is OK if thats what you want.....but i dont like the fact that the previous ads mentioned these as NOS......i dont think so IMO

I had a 140 mph speedometer in my 68 firebird years ago but it was only a 350 cubic inch motor. Were they that uncommon?

didn't Firebird have a 160 mph speedo?

on the Camaro one, I wonder if those are std. 120mph speedos that are sent out to a speedo restoration shop and rebuilt as 140mph speedos?

'67 and '68 speedometers had different face graphics and won't correctly interchange. And since the mileage on the eBay speedo reads zero, the guy has probably broken a book of laws by resetting the mileage. It's obviously been taken apart and ressembled by a ham-hand, going by the dimples at the screw holes. Nice fake, though. I wonder if it registers correctly?

I know the face looks differnt I think they have a pontiac emblim on them thats with out me looking but I was told it would fit, and I vagly remember seeing onein a camaro.
I thought about buying one from a place in ohio but i dont know if they are steel there they where call cambird industres. cambird is the place I bought my NOS front fenders from for $299.00 each with extension. Ok before you say B.S that was in 1987 dollers not 2006 dollers I wish I would have bought 2 or 3 set. I'm sure there is a place out there that could reface the camaro one and give it a top speed of 168 180 or with a little luck 200 and it will steel have a stock lookto it. I want a 200 MPH so I can go to the salt flats and try and join the 200 MPH club but I dont think it will happen have to find away to get the car done.
Does anyone know of a place to totaly re do and customize a spedo If not I will just use googel

Rat, I'd contact Year One. They sell reconditioned speedometers and are a top-drawer bunch of folks to deal with. Perhaps they'll key you in to their vendor. The problem isn't the scale of MPH on the speedometer--it's the calibration. You can change the face of a 120mph speedo to read 140 or even 180 or 200, but it has to be calibrated to the dial to be accurate, and the transmission drive gears have to be matched with the tire size and gear ratio of the car. I'm sure the Year One folks can point you to a reputable speedometer rebuilding/calibrating shop of high quality. Good luck!
