I'm finally getting ready to install the correct console gauges. Where will I find the hole that the plastic oil pressure line passes thru? The previous gauge was electric and the wire for that runs thru the speedo cable hole. This car has an elec. speedo that also being replaced. Back to OE project!

I think its suppose to come in under the front of the center console. Is that right?

Thanks for reminding me. I'm starting, or going to pull the engine tomorrow/soon. On a BBC for 69 the fitting to loosen is above the bell housing. I can check for the firewall entrance hole for you tomorrow if needed. Oh hell, wheres my flashlight? The tube comes from the top of the bell housing area to a union behind the drivers side valve cover and then to a grommet in the firewall directly behind the coil. Then the tube snakes under the dash to the front/bottom of the console along with the harnesses. Again, thanks for the reminder.

Fred do you have the AIM yet? Assembly Instruction Manual.?
It has all the detail you will need there. I recall there is a rubber grommet and hole near the distributor that the oil line feeds through and it lays under the carpet up into the guage pod. I dont have my AIM handy here but you really need that book if you own a first gen camaro :)

Jim I have an AIM. I find it not very useful. If it had a index that made sense I would probably refer to it more often.

I bet someone has a motor out and can take a pic of this hole location.

Hoping,

The "map" of the firewall, showing the assembly workers where to make holes for various options is in the UPC 0 section of the AIM. It is a drawing of the firewall with a bunch of arrows and tags to numbers above. You are looking for the hole for U17. That should get you to the dimple you need to drill out.

I did a search here, and here's a thread with the map shown in it.

This place (TC) is amazing! I just went out to the garage (car 5 feet away) and looked! I've never bought a AIM. I didn't know I needed one. :noway: My car came from Chevrolet assembled. I already know how it goes together when I take something apart. Oh, the wiring and oil line are routed ABOVE the carpet into the console.
Oh, Jim: any idea where I should start to pull my engine today?

Kidding: I'm just doing a little updating; like maybe a new roller cam and new drive shaft and TCI converter. (My COP0 unit is getting a rest) Also doing some general 'huggy stuff' like a new 3" exhaust system and new Super Comp white Jethot headers. Damn, it sounds good with the old headers open! The last time was 20 years ago! I'd forgotten. Well, better get to work. But first I have to get to town and buy my wife something for Xmas.
