Hello,

I while back I picked up a Holley Street Avenger 770CFM and I put in on a 350 bored 0.040" over. The car runs fine but the better carb would have been the 670CFM. What if anything can I do to make the 770 a better match for the motor or should I buy the 670 carb?

Thanks,
Jeff

Swap your base plate with a smaller replacement base plate from proform(or ?)....pretty common anymore....

It doesn't even have to be that complicated, The venturi size determines the cfm. With the carb flowing alot of air,if you drop the jets down a couple sizes, it really leans out. Plus, what alot of people do to tune there car is make the jets REAL rich and try to compensate by plugging the power valve or dropping squirter size. All this does is give you a horrible flat spot off idle. 'Tis better to run lean jets and bigger squirters and a power valve. I know you can tune that carb to your engine. I ran 1200 cfm (two 600 Holleys) on a 10" tunnel ram on a 350 ci. engine (stock bore and all) For those of you that think that was too much, it ran 11.83 in the 1/4. 10.96 on nitrous. Couldn't have been that wrong.
