Hi
I am the second owner of a 383 chevy stroker motor. My problem is the temp sending unit in my manifold has a plug in it. I have tried to take it off and have round off the hex key. Now I am stuck with a plug that I cant get out. Anyone have any ideas. I was thinkning of driling this out. This is a aluminum manifold, looks like the previous owner used some sort of sealer. And do I have to put the temp sending unit in the manifold or is there a site in the head or block?

Thanks

There should be a plug on the drivers side for the sending unit. As far a using the intake, you can get the motor hot then try and using a big screwdriver, or anything that you can fit squarely into the plug to turn it. At times I have simply used a cold chisel and tapped trying to turn the plug in the direction (counter clockwise) to loosen it. Remember the intake is cast aluminum so go easy...

Thank You very much for the info. I think I will use the block side plug. I tried chiseling the plug but the plug didnt move. The plug seems to be on for the long haul.

Thanks

Look for a threaded plug on the driver side cylinder head, between #1 and #3. If the head has a port there, that's the way to go.
