Hello All,

I'm going to hopefully be purchasing a radiator for my car within the next few days. The car currently has a Manual Trans in it (T-10 4 spd). Eventually I am going to go THM400. I plan to use a Heavy Duty aftermarket trans cooler when I do.

I have 2 questions:

1) Other than the trans cooler, are there any external differences in the Automatic Trans Radiators vs Manual Trans Radiators?
2) Internally are the tanks & cores the same?

If everything is the same, then I'm going to buy a big block radiator ( I have a 350 small block) and just add a trans cooler when I go w/ da matic.

All comments are welcome!!

Thanks!!

I can't comment on the technical differences, but if you are sure you are going to switch over to an automatic I would buy the automatic radiator and use it in conjunction with a large trans cooler.

I'm running a 21" 3 core MT brass/copper radiator with an auxiliary tranny cooler (3000 stall,th350 tranny) No problems.

i run a m/t radiator in my 67 with th400 5000stall and aux B&M super cooler with it's own fan, mounted in the right side opening of the lower valance panel, no problems and it does see some street duty in the summer. David

Would you even consider a 4 row core in 21" or even 23" ?

The current radiator is a 4 core. It's a 21". The radiator shop told me it was originally a three core, but it looks like the prior owner(s) stretched the tanks to make it a 4 core. I'm going to go 23" even with the 350 SBC.

I just wasn't sure if I should go manual trans radiator or auto trans radiator. Then after I figure that out do I go aluminum or heavy duty copper & brass.????????????????
