I want to paint my undercarrige the same as the rest of the body. What could I top-coat with to prevent chips? Has anyone ever tried rocker panel coating? How bout painting over undercoating, does that work?

paint it the same as your body, then use POR15 clear.

and just take a second to think about the second question... paint over undercoating??? undercoating is made of what...rubber... paint does what on top of rubber... bends... thus peels and chips away.No Good, stick with the POR15 idea. its better. and will look great.

more info on POR15 can be found at www.por15.com (http://www.por15.com)

I did not necessarily mean rubberized undercoating. I meant the textured stuff like on rocker panels and that sort of stuff. I don't know what bodyshops do in that case.

Road (or gravel) guard can be painted over, just check it over good for chips. If its chiped remove it and then get it re applied if wanted. Under coating as stated above should not be topcoated.

I know a guy who used spray on truck bed liner, you can buy it buy the gallon at wal-mart,i think either plastikote or duplicolor makes it.I believe you can paint over that.
