Winch Dec 22nd, 06, 09:36 AM In 1975 I bought a 69 RS/SS with gauge pkg. That's about all I remember about it because I sold it the next day to the kid across the street. I don't remember what I paid for it but I remember I made $100. The only reason I did that was I spotted a 67 Vette on a car lot that day and the kid offered me more then the dealer wanted to give me trade-in.
Now I wish I had either of those cars.

69 Shelby GT500
68 Charger R/T
71 Challenger Convt
69 Camaro RS
57 Bel Air
67 Shelby GT350
68 Camaro
I was either not born yet, or way to young to get my hands on any of these. The Charger was my favorite, I was 9 when my Dad bought it. He traded it in for my Mom's 69 Camaro RS, that they ended up selling when I was 11 for $5k!
radial72 Dec 22nd, 06, 01:46 PM My dad's 351W 4-speed '69 Cougar he bought new (was traded for a '76 Pontiac Lemans 2-door)
'72 SS 396 Camaro (sawed it up and sold the bits, I didn't know how to read a cowl tag, wrote it down and was a bit saddened when I found out it WAS real.)
'71 RS/SS 350 Camaro (gave it to a neighbor when I moved)
'69 Firechicken 350/4speed sold it to finish a restore on a '72 RS/SS 350 Camaro)
'83 Daytona Pace Car Firechicken (smashed by a snowplow)

'68 Camaro 350/4speed (got greedy and sold it for what I thought was good money, I can't replace it for that anymore!)

It was Gold, with Diamond tuck from front to rear, and even on the headliner. I didn't do the Diamond tuck, but it was pretty cool at the time, so I left it.
Yellow69RSZ Dec 22nd, 06, 03:58 PM My 69 Camaro SS convertible in hugger orange with a freakin' fold down rear seat. I had trouble selling it for $1500 back in 1979. I am trying to locate it with no luck yet!

ProdigyCustoms Dec 22nd, 06, 04:40 PM The number 18 ZL1, A dosumented special paint Daytona Yellow LS6, A one owner 69 boss 429 survivor with 6000 miles and a red 68 GT500KR convertible lead the list. The later 2 were cars I considered mine as i kept them for a couple years each. The ZL1 and LS6 were just inventory, but the ZL1 sold for over 1 mil recently, UGH! But being in the buisness buying and selling for 27 years, there have been many. But with that all said, they all made money when they were sold.

69 Z/28 Daytona Yellow with a 13-1 427 4speed and 488 gears. This was one nasty street car. you could put this thing sideways from a dead stop in 4th gear.

There are many more but these are the ones I regret the most
Bgonz 69 Dec 22nd, 06, 06:44 PM But being in the buisness buying and selling for 27 years, there have been many. But with that all said, they all made money when they were sold .

Not exactly like the topic, but I never bought the '69 Z11 I easily could have (not even 5000USD if I remember correctly)...I didn't have the space to do a full restauration :( But now I am going to do a frame-off on my '67 so that makes it even worse!!!

Bought it in 1978 to use during the winter when the Camaro was in storage. It only had a slant-6 but it was a great car. Still miss it and wouldn't mind getting another.

Ghostbuster Mar 17th, 07, 11:00 AM When I was 16, (1979) I bought a 1967 GTO convertible for $650.
It had the original 396 w/factory six-pack, 4-speed on floor.
The car was perfect, including the wood grain console and dash.
Car drove great, and was so light I could get rubber in all 4 gears..
3-engines, 2-transmissions and a 1-rear axle later, my Dad made me sell it.
I did a lot of street racing in Minnesota, and the last straw was
playing chicken over the Mississippi River bridge racing a '71 Monte Carlo.

You mean 389 w/factory tri-power? Anyway, back in the early 80's, I had a 66 GTO convertible, a 69 Firebird 400, and a 68 Camaro SS350. Sold them all (very stupid). I was able to relocate my Camaro and bought it back about two years ago for roughly 5 times what I sold it for in 85. I'd love to have that Bird back too. Mike. :beers: :beers:
ChevyThunder Mar 17th, 07, 12:18 PM Factory Porsche 962.. just sold it a few months ago to a guy who had to have it for his collection...it will never get raced again.. it is a 12 Hours of Sebring race winner in 1986 and still holds the record for Average MPH and Distance covered 21 years later.... Hans Stuck , Jo Gartner and Bob Akin were the drivers and it was sponsored by Coca~Cola corporate out of Atl... the opportunity to own a car with this kind of racing history only comes around so often. I made a big mistake selling it.

Jeff H Mar 17th, 07, 05:16 PM I miss some of my previous Camaros but the way I look at it is that one car leads to the next one when you sell it. So for now, I'm happy with my current 3 Camaros but I'm sure they'll lead to something else in the future. No regrets!
egore Mar 17th, 07, 06:08 PM I bought mine in 1978 when i was 15, 2000$. A while back I came sooooo close to selling it, it still scares me.:clonk: My wife, friends,co workers, all told me, " I wouldnt". It almost sold for 12000$. But I came to my senses. The next year I had it appraised "19,500$".:beers: Whoooo! That was a close one.

PowerWindows Dec 9th, 08, 08:03 PM I have had several GM (14 Camaros, 4 Novas & 3 Chevelles + other makes), Mopar (1 Barracuda & 2 Chargers) and Ford (2 Mustangs & 2 Fairlanes) cars that I wish I still had but the one that got away was a loaded 1968 Mustang GT fastback: 390, top loader 4-speed, 4.11 track lok 9", KH disc brakes, tilt wheel (swing away like a Tbird), tach and gauges, overhead console, styled steel wheels with the GT hubcaps, locking GT gas cap and just about everything else on the order sheet. But the oddest was a bench seat Pony interior! I've never seen another bench seat/4-speed fastback GT bigblock Mustang (and I look for them). Took it to Pomona back in the mid-80's and thought $8500 (I paid $200 + had to fix a few things) was good money for it. I always wondered what happened to it....

NHBandit Dec 10th, 08, 06:35 AM Too many to list but the ones that stick in my mind are my 69 Z/28 owned for 20 years, Cortez Silver with 54k miles, 66 Vette 427 convertible, 59 El Camino with a transplanted 409, 68 Firebird 400 convertible, 57 Belair 396 (blew up several 4 speeds & rear ends with that one), 66 Chevelle SS396, 68 Chevelle 327 4spd with a bench seat, 66 GTO with a 66 Vette 427 installed, 67 GTO. Parted out over 100 Camaros & Chevelles back in the day when they could still be found for $50-$100 resting behind someones garage just by driving around on the backroads... LOTS of those should have been kept & fixed like the pair of 69 SS cars we found in Vermont. Both rusty, 1 was a 396 car missing the engine, the other was a 350 SS/RS complete but rusty, both had 12 bolts still in them, Muncie 4spds, etc. Paid $700 for the pair.

cencal69 Dec 10th, 08, 11:49 AM 1990 Toyota truck - single cab. It was the first truck I ever had and it was great. Boy I missed that truck when the gas prices were sky high.
1979 Buick Regal Turbo T-type. 3.8 litre turbo sport coupe. That car was fun to drive.
78MBA Dec 10th, 08, 01:28 PM This was my first Camaro and one that started the obsession. My Dad and I found this car at the original dealership that it was sold from. The dealer was also a collector that my Dad had developed a friendship with. He would let my Dad look through his collection from time to time as the bug came and went. Looking through his collection he spotted this solid 1969 Convertible sitting on it's flat white ring tires. Knowing that I had been lusting after a Camaro he called and asked if I wanted to make an offer on the car to which my response was "Hell yes!". We drove down to look at the car the next day and bought it on the spot and trailored it home. Payed a whopping $7,000 for what turned out to be a 1 owner 45,000 mile, matching #'s, factory original hugger orange with original paint 69 Camaro Convertible survivor. The car was bought by a couple from the dealers home town and returned to the dealer when the widow could no longer afford to keep 2 cars. There it sat for the next 14 years until I found it. Unfortunatley I needed money for college and sold the car the next year thinking that it would not be a problem to find another one when I wanted. Boy was I wrong! Sold it for $7900 bucks.

musclecarjohn Dec 10th, 08, 02:03 PM Only two...
'68 RS Camaro 327/275hp/slushbox Dark Green,Black vinyl top,fold-down seat.
Bought that car for $1500 and it ended up in Japan.
'69 GTO coupe Light Blue/White vinyl top,hide-away lights,400/auto trans.
Bought this car for $700 and sold it 2 years later to some Army guys for $2K.
Can't keep 'em all...but I wish I had that Camaro back.
69isfine Dec 10th, 08, 03:29 PM In a weak moment I almost took $5,000 for my car in 1999. I almost took $10,000 for it in 2003, in the middle of the 'do I sell it, or spend some money and restore it' debate that went on in my head for about 5 years.
I made the right call, and the car is still here, now in better shape than it ever has been. Today I get to read this thread with no regrets.
Moonpie Dec 10th, 08, 04:09 PM I wish I didn't have to part with a 68 Charger but the Navy would only ship one car for me and I went with the 68 Camaro. Wrecked it less than a year later.
Mike-T Dec 10th, 08, 04:22 PM I would definitely be kicking myself after parting with some of the cars you guys owned...I do miss a few of mine though they are not so rare, my 2 1966 Nova 327 sport coupes, my first car in high school, a 77 Camaro with 4 wheel disks and blueprinted 350, my 68 RS convertible, the 67 RS 327 coupe that I parted out, my 67 bolero red rs convertible, and my 69 c/10 swb fleetside pickup that was given to me by my grandpa. Funny thing is now i'm slowly trying to replace them all, i'd really love my 77 back most of all, believe it or not. so many memories in that car...
ChuckD Dec 10th, 08, 04:38 PM 1970 Roadrunner with a 440 Six-Pak, 4 speed, Air-Grabber hood, bald tires,.......sold in August 1975 for $900. Used the money to pay first semester housing at college.
captcanuck68 Dec 10th, 08, 11:15 PM I've had more than my share of clunkers in the past. Some I loved... some I just loved to get rid of. But the one that stands out from the rest was a '50 Buick Roadmaster...God, it had the ugliest grill ya ever saw! Huge thick teeth that could chew up a moose if ya ever hit one.:)
It took forever for the trans to kick in (like you could push in the lighter...take couple of drags on the cig, before it would decide to go). And go it would, once you got it up to speed...stopping it was another matter.:(
Had a wonder bar radio, with a foot pedal with which you could change the radio station, and it would seek out a station when you pressed it. Would love to have someone in the car, point at the radio, and it would come to life like "Christine".
But, time moved on. My dad got rid of it...without my knowing about it (was away for college). She was an ugly beaut, eh?

iluv69s Dec 11th, 08, 06:16 AM Welll...The 64 Malibu SS conv. that I paid 700 for...a decent driver...then traded a few months later at Englishtown swap meet for a 69 Caprice 427 and all the parts the guy had left on Sunday and the 1500 bucks that he made...I left him with only 20 bucks for gas money so he could get home!!
And then the Caprice a few months later for 2300 bucks....hehehe
The 64 malibu nomad 2 door wagon that was loaded with in-dash tach, clock, tilt, power windows etc...paid 500 not running, and sold a few months later for 1300 in the first hour I arrived at Englishtown...
The absolutely mint super low mile 67 SS350 Camaro non-cut up "racecar" body I bought at Englishtown on Saturday morning for 1300 as it was entering the swap meet ...and sold for 2500 on Sunday...the most beautiful original paint body I ever seen..
I guess the 4 69 Z-28s that I parted and sold the parts at Englishtown over the years are near the top of my list...
And the all numbers original paint Fathom Green 69 Z that was in a barn with 1975 inspection that I paid 3500 for...and was offered 15k a year later..and eventually sold in a package deal is right up there...
But the real kicker is the blue plain jane roller/ex-racer that I paid 1000 bucks for that came with the 4.10 posi 12 bolt rear and the Big block heater box....that I parted and sold the parts at Englishtown...When I took it apart, I told my little bro. that the heater box and core sure seemed like it was original to the car...??? at the time I thought that maybe it was a non-SS 396 Camaro...I'm 99% certain now that it was the original heater box to the car.... I chopped the body shell in 4 pieces with a torch in order to fit the pieces in my pickup in order to take it to the scrap yard..I will always wonder about that car....if only I knew what I know now!!!!
..and all the other rs-ss's, converts, 400 firebirds,etc...that I parted back in the day when the cars were worth more in parts then whole!!!
Yankit Dec 11th, 08, 10:13 AM My folks sold my first car-1968 Chevelle SS396 when I was on deployment in the Navy, I sold my Dads '29 Model A Roadster that had been in the family 24 yrs to buy my 1969 Corvette 427 Roadster which I still have but that 29 roadster was very cool... and lastly I had to sell my two movie cars a 69 Yenko and 70 Challenger from the movie "2 Fast 2 Furious" to pay off my now ex-wife...! All part of lifes lessons live and learn and enjoy as many as you can......!
carbon69SS Dec 11th, 08, 10:28 AM Sold a 67' chevelle to a old lady for her son, and in the process stumbled upon a all original 70' cuda AAR 340 six pack. True story... Then I traded about 10,000 in concrete work she needed done for it. 43,000 original miles. Last week I found the biuldsheet behind the back seat.
She had no idea what it was worth...
lowbuck69x11 Dec 11th, 08, 06:58 PM Only one regret, a 66 Nova 327 (275 horse) no, not a L-79. But that car was fun to drive when I could get it to hook up. Had a muncie 4-speed and Crager ss wheels.....Gave it to my Brother -in -Law back around 1974.
twozs Dec 11th, 08, 08:15 PM http://www.oldride.com/classic_cars/689451.htmli had a L79 68 Malibu . 327/325 hp 4 speed 12 bolt. medium blue with a black vinyl top and rosewood wheel. i brought it in 78 . i remember the guy i brought it from told me it did 60 mph in first gear. i had NO idea what it was until my Friends brother who has a black 69 rs looked at the motor and recognizes it as the 325 hp motor. the motor and trans ended up in a 77 monza mirage, end of L79 Malibu

Eke Dec 11th, 08, 10:07 PM My first car, 1941 Chevrolet Business Coupe. My dad gave it to me for Christmas when I was 15. We rebuilt it, installed newer 6 cylinder engine, and a '56 Chevy 3 speed and rear end under it. Kept it until I bought my '69 Rally Sport. Had 6 other Chevy's at the time and sold it to a friend of my dad's. He ended up giving it to his son-in-law who didn't take care of it. He was in the Army and moved up north and took it with him.
SRGN Dec 11th, 08, 10:28 PM '70 Cutlass Supreme, factory 455/TH400 car with buckets/console. Was dark green with a black interior. Body was rust free, interior was mint. 48k on the clock when I bought it, sold it a year later with 51k on the clock. I sold the car for $3800 in '99:(
okiemark Dec 13th, 08, 09:21 PM 1975 Torino, 351 Cleveland. This was the most maintenance-free car I ever had. It also got great gas mileage. My buddies and I drove it from OKC to N.O. to work off-shore and didn't stop much. We were so confident in the Torino's mileage, we ran out. However, we coasted into a gas station and spent the rest of the night at the gas station, in the car. I was the first to wake up because a big truck showed up early to fill the underground tanks with fuel, and we were parked in their spot.

danimaldds Dec 14th, 08, 09:02 AM Well It wasn't mine but my folks. They bought ,in 1970 after my sister wrecked the dodge pioneer wagon, a brand new 426 hemi road runner. I was 15.. I about **** myself.. Back then, you could actually change your mind. and... the dealer talked them out of it and they ended up with a 2door chrysler POS. Oh the humanity
