I have picked up what will be a driver, but it needs a lot of help. It was a 6 cyl 3 spd, a SB maybe a 350 w/auto and HEI was installed. The HEI is way too close to the firewall, could it be that there was never enough room or are the frame to motor mount brackets wrong? The battery got mad and ate the frame mount bracket under it, so the RT front sheetmetal including the radiator & etc. are now sitting on the frame. I need a source for the entire radiator/front sheetmetal support unit. What radiator did the 68 V/8's have, a top tank or a cross flow and wasn't there some kind of rubber insulators between it and the clamp brackets? Did these have a fan clutch or a solid hub? Please don't laugh, I will not post any photos, because I know you will, any info you can share would be appreciated. Marv

The HEI sounds normal. Some fit - some don't. I had to massage my firewall with a BFH to get mine to fit. Most here don't like hammering on it, so a small body HEI can be used. Frame/Engine mounts can be part of the problem. The subframe itself can be pushed back too far, Etc. If you use 327/307 frame stands, your HEI SHOULD fit, but you will have header/steering box fitment issues. If you use 302/350 frame stands, your headers SHOULD fit, but your HEI/firewall will need to be clearanced. Your battery plate and radiator support can be obtained at Rick's First Generation, NPD, or Ground up which is one of our site sponsers. The Radiator is bolted solidly to the core support. The clamp things didn't come out until the 70's. I guess I would call it a crossflow radiator. Clutch fan's were used, but not on all. We won't laugh at you, but with you here.
