I'm not happy with shifting of the 700r4 that came in my '69. The TV cable has been adjusted in both directions. To get the upshifts desireable the downshifts bang like crazy. Especially the 2-1 shift. I was told that this tranny has a shift kit in it. Instead of getting into this tranny i'm considering changing back to a TH350. I was told that a long tailshaft version will fit without having to change the length of the driveshaft.

What application should I be looking for?

well concidering you have a 700r4 welll I guess so.
you do know that youll lose that overdrive with a th350 dont you?
why not just get another 700R4 and you wont have so many headaches in the future.

I liked the way my th350 shifted also. But I like the O.D. much better!

I've had this car since Sept. and I've only been over 45 mph once. So it hasn't seen overdrive yet but it sure downshifts like crap.

I just removed my 700r4 and replaced with a 350. I'm much happier now. I dont miss the overdrive. I havnt done any road trips, that might would have made a difference.. I kept my 700R4 just in case.

Something must be wrong witth your trans. It isn't supposed to downshift hard. Maybe someone on here will know an easy fix. Anyone?
