Anyone know where a I can find DETAILED documentation on exactly how to properly notch a 350 block for a 383 stroker kit and crankshaft?

Thanks kausboy Dec 24th, 06, 04:56 PM I thought to build a 383 you used a 400 crank with the mains turned to fit in a 350 block and used 350 rods with "short" pistons (pistons with shorter skirts). There are "kits" available now that make it a snap! I don't remember "notching" the block when I built mine -I did however use the wrong rods the first time and the piston skirts hit the counterweights!!! (That's embarassing :D) Eric68 Dec 24th, 06, 05:12 PM There is no real detailed info on notching a 350 block because all the blocks and stroker kits are a llittle different -- all have to be checked. Maybe there is a book somewhere that tells you how, but the bottom line is you need to make sure there is at least .050" clearance between all your moving parts (bearings are obviously not .050" -- they are more like .0025" rod and .003" main). 1. Crank counterweights to oil pan rails 2. Connecting rod bolts to oil pan rails. 3. Connecting rod bolts to cam lobes (especially cylinders 1,2,5,6). 4. Piston skirts to crank counterweights. I made a go/no-go gauge from a piece of coat hanger that I flattened to .050" on the end. Then the coat hanger wire can be bent to reach whatever tight spot I need to check. camaroman7d Dec 24th, 06, 06:08 PM Ditto what Eric said.
