Hello all... to make a long story short. I have this 1986 camaro, 355, TH 350 trans, with a 7.5 26 spline rear end that has to go. This car is part of a high school racing program that I run with a co-worker. We have very.. very.. limited funds, so what ever rear end I go with, has to be on the cheap. I have concerns for the rear end we have now, I don’t need a student getting hurt when it gives out down the 1/4 mile. I was going to find a 89-92 rear, install moser axels, gears, spool, braced cover. What should I look for when purchasing the rear end. All suggestions are welcomed. Thanks again.. Adam

An 8.5" 10 bolt rear out of a '75-'79 Nova will bolt up. It has to come from a 350 car though as the L-6 cars were equiped with the 7.5" rear end starting in '77.

Whoa there, larger Dave...
Isn't an 86 a thirdgen? They have that 3 armed rear suspension, with the 4 foot long torque arm that runs from the center if the axle up to the back of the trans, and coil springs, not leafs.
I'm afraid that's about the limit of my knowledge on 82 and up camaros tho, but perhaps someone else will chime in with a solution for you. A Nova leaf spring rear will not work.

I've got a complete Borg Warner rear end for a 3rd gen already rebuilt if you are interested. They don't have c clip axles, so you don't have to worry about loosing one. They also have 28 splines. This one is a 3.27 posi for disc brakes.
