I came across what I believe to once have been a real 67 RS. The back half of the chassis was removed and a 4 link setup put in its place. The back seat, trunk, and rear floorpan are long gone. A narrowed Ford 9in housing is in place but no gears.

After getting over the carnage done ( I weep for any camaro that gets butchered that bad), I noticed the instrument panel had a tach in place where the gas gauge would be. This made me believe there must have been console guages - although the console was long gone. It also had the deluxe door panels and a tilt column. On the outside it had the standard 67 grill but the lower valence had lights. Couldnt get to the rear panel to check what was there. And finally there were SS emblems on the fenders (you know how rare those are).

Car had a big block - no clue what size, or if its original. I didnt get a chance to take down the casting # or any info off the cowl tag.

Is it a real RS or SS? If I can acquire the car, is it worth replacing the drag setup and bring it back to a streetable car?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

You have to get the Cowl tag numbers!!! By chance do you remember what the red line was on the tach?? 5000 was a 327, 5500 350 and 325 396 and 6000 was L78 or 302.
Group 4 on the cowl tag will tell you what the car is or was:p

Without the original drivetrain, the car has no real value above & beyond any other non-original base Camaro that's been hacked up to race.

If you factor in the cost to replace all the missing sheetmetal, frame sections, gas tank, suspension, rear end, interior and who knows what else, the car sounds like a waste of time & money unless it's almost free.
