Does anyone have a solution to remove a broken tap. I was cleaning out the threads in an exhaust manifold and it came loose frm the vise, fell on the floor and of course landed on the tap breaking it off. It's not super tight as I was just cleaning the threads using oil and tightening and loosening but it is recessed about 1/4" inside the manifold.

depending on the size needle nose pliers .
or get the tool to remove broken taps.
looks like 2 prongs that fit into the flutes of the broken piece.
btw in the future dont use taps to clean threads.
use thread chasers.
at least thats what the pros use

You could try to use a prick punch, tapping easily round and round counter clockwise seeing its just below the surface. After a few turns you could grab it with vice grips. Worst case scenario is to drill the center of the bolt using a carbide bit, then use an easy-out to rotate it out.

Just like Kev said. Drill it and use an easy-out to remove the broken tap. Anything else used, might damage the threads.
