I know right? I mean, it's just a 69 after all. I don't know why anyone would buy one! ;)

Heck, Iv'e seen rusted out hulks on E-BAY goin' for 5-6 grand!!! This one looks not all that bad, and some of the hard work has been done (floors, trunk etc). It's even a driver! Maybe not the deal of the day, but Iv'e seen a lot worse for crazy money.

I think if you watch the other 69's and their going prices you'll get your answer. It's a driver and a 4 spd with an 8 cyl. -- The money is not that bad for that car. I sold a 69 plane jane last year, no engine or tranny. Had rust issues in the rear quarters and rear window - interior needed re-doing 5k - first person that looked at it. Granted it was an X44 but the one above is a bargain compared to what I sold.

well at least the seller seemed honest about what he was selling pointing out the bad with some good pic's. I almost thought he was going to give it away. LOL

P.S 69's rule:D

Is an X44 more than a x11 I own an x44 rag top and always thought an x11 was more valuable ?

My guess is because it has the ultra rare fan shroud with molded "Caution Fan" warning. Those are hard to come by...

Maybe I'm nuts but I don't think $12K is that bad. Everything is there plus you can DRIVE it! Too many people have these sitting in their garage "restoring" them...IMO. Get out and have fun! Alot better than spending 12 on a Ford Focus.

I see an excess of $15K in restoration . But if you want to just drive it.

I see that in just paint and sheet metal/body work. See the pics where the floor pan is hacked and and welded. Notice that the front spring perch is thru-bolted.

I looked at the car and the pics dont do it much justice.
its a solid car with alot of goodies.
one of the best resto cars ive seen in awhile.
I almost bought the car until I seen the 69 vette I bought instead.

I saw a plain jane, daily driver '68 for sale here in Bakersfield a few months back in an office building parking lot, window sign with vitals and a $15,000 asking price. I assumed it was someone's work vehicle because it was always in a different spot of the same lot when I passed by on several different occasions. Paint was decent, but not show. I did a quick walk around and obviously didn't open the hood, but was amazed to see that the interior was shot. I thought the car was way overpriced and in my mind the car was worth probably 7 or 8. However, the car is no longer there, so I assume it sold. I have no idea what it sold for, but at 12K this '69 is in much better overall condition than the '68.
My point is this - the values on these cars are increasing. We all have ideas on what we think they are worth based on our experience, but we forget about those prospective buyers (young and old) who jump at the chance to own one given that there are limited purchase opportunities available anymore. Take this same '69 with a window sign for $12,000 in a parking lot here, I say it sells for asking price within a week.
