View Full Version : How can I tell if my 68 came with astro vents?

Bought the car disasembled and am installing the vintage air a/c kit. I know the car was originally an A/C car. I don't see any obvious holes in the firewall or cowl underneath the dash like pictured in the vintage air instructions to be blocked.

I'm just a little confused because looking through the old parts that I got with the car I see the passenger kick pannel had a big vacum motor and the A/C control pannel has a vacum switch. I originally thought this might have something to do with astro ventilation at the kick pannels?

Thanks for help/info.

'68 AC cars only had the passenger side vent. The drivers side is closed. The only major holes are the ventilation fan under the RH fender, the rectangular hole under the evaporator box, and the electrical gromet for the fan/resistor/relay/compressor.

Thanks Carl.

Further reading of the manual and books I have made me realize that the big vacum part on the passenger side kick pannel was part of the A/C system from the factory. The cover will make a nice pannel to hide my A/C lines and heater lines from my vintage air piece. Going to route the hoses out the blower hole and over/through the fender.
