Dont bother, replacements are far cheaper than repair

Yeah, and these things are sealed. That means "Not serviceable".

Sort of...
If something has been made, it can be remade.
Just depends on how bad u need it and what tools u have.

Thanks for the smart thoughts. I would agree it does looked sealed and replacements are cheaper, but I notice it is dated and I like to keep my cars as original as possible. I thought if it could be rebuilt, I would give it a shot. I found a guy that rebuilds centerlinks, ilder arms and tie rod ends. I thought those were also sealed, but he said if it can be built, it can be rebuilt. Might get a replacement and save the original if I can't find anyone that restores them. Thanks Team Camaro

There are brushes inside plus two bronze bushings. The armiture may need to be turned, sorta like a starter rebuild.
They should be pretty easy to replace. Is it riveted together or what?

I will check on the rivets and how it is sealed together after I get the plastic fan off. It is off a low mile 69, but it feels as if the motor binds some. The fan does not want to come off easy, but when I get it off I will report back with what I see. Thanks, Jim

I'm glad this came up. I have a couple of the original blower motors that I kept after replacing them with the replacement motors hoping some day, I would find a company that will rebuild the original motors. I'm not sure if there are any date codes or numbers stamped on the motor casings, but the repros do look cosmetically different from the originals. The replacement motors are probably built better and are bigger than the originals which makes them better in that sense.

My is dated 8 69. The date is on the round edge. It also says Delco Products USA. Hope to find a rebuilder. Thanks Team Camaro

Jim, I looked on the one I have and it does also have a date code stamped on it of 09-66. It reads: Appliance N.Y. USA 09-66 Delco Rochester. Like you, I am going to hold on to it and see if it can be rebuilt.

Plastic fan??
my orginal is steel...
The replacements come without the fan....From memory it is a small nut on the end of the main shaft. Bit of CRC for couple hrs.

I am with you. When my front clip comes off for paint I hope to do as you are suggesting and have my motor rebuilt. Maybe calling Jerry MacNeish could turn up a lead. He is all for originality.

Hi Steptoe. My heater motor has a white plastic fan on it. It was stuck, but I carefully got it off. The date on my motor is 8 of 69. Maybe different years used metal fans ?? The motor looks sealed. I can't see how it would come apart ?? David that Nomad-Vette is a cool car. Who owns it ??

My Gwad guys! Date coded HEATER MOTORS!??? You can't even see them unless you pull a fender! And the PUNY ORIGINAL motor can't defog baby's breath. Put a large A/C motor in and get a GOOD blow.

Why not just get it rebuilt if someone does that. If I got a new one, what would I do with the old dated one, throw it away ?? I have rebuilt and restored all the other original parts so far during my restoration. Anyway Happy New Year to everyone. I would comment on your last line Fred, but I don't want to get in trouble LOL...

Metal cages vs plastic cages were for AC cars and not AC cars. I cannot remember which is which. I would guess the plastic ones were for AC cars due to the high condensation would make the metal rust. AC fans also had a hole in the housing with a rubber tube to drain condensate.

Good point Kevin. My car that has the white plastic fan is a non A.C. car, built late in 1969. The fan part number is 3157437. I will have to check a true A.C. car, or maybe someone might know about the metal fans.
