what size are the roof rail chanel screws that secure the weatherstripping? i found a small baggie of screws that have goop on em, i figure thats where they come from considering there are enough in the bag to secure one side to the car. will a #10 sheet metal screw work? also will it be easy to go to the local ACE and get some screws that will function the same way?

They are phillips head screws, with a large flat head. On some years they were chromed, some were not. They look like this

Kevin do you or anyone else know if the originals really have the self drilling bit on the end or is this a resto part? My experience with that type of screw is they don't work very well or for very long. Most of these I've found on my cars was either stripped or loose.

Those are repro ones from Ricks. It was just a quick pic grab to show looks. But you are right the originals do not have the self tap. When these screws loosen it because the sheet metal gets wallowed.

Napa, Balkamp number is 665-1124.They have the self tapping end and are bright finished. I got some also at Franco supply which were black. Identical otherwise. The head is not exactly like original but close.

Does anyone know what size the screws should be?

Here is a page from the www.amkproducts.com catalog showing #8-18X 1/2 long. (there are no #10 sizes in this style).

The B-12207 seems to be what I would expect. It's "S8" coating which means zinc.
(S2=phosphate/oil, S3=black painted, S13=chrome, S44=black zinc.)

Just installed these on my car tonight. I used #8 sheet metal screws. Had to use washers with them. Used #10 washers to ensure they wouldn't pull through.

#10 screws would be to large.
