Will a GM HEI Distributor out of a 350 put out enough power for a 402 big block? Would the module be good enough? And would the coil be good enough?

Yes, yes, and yes.

All the same with exception to curves.

Thanks for the replies, Reason I was asking is it seems like I can't get enough timing. I know the car has a cam that is not stock, I can advance the timing as far as I can turn the distributor and it still won't ping. I've always been told to turn the timing until it pings and then turn it back some degrees. My problem is the motor seems to stumble in high RPM's and I was thinking about getting a new coil and module. Do you think this would help? I don't have any tools to test the coil. I've been told I could go to a mechanical only distributor since I don't know the correct vaccum advance for the dist I have.

Get a new HEI distributor, they are $47 on Ebay new for a ProComp HEI, it has an adjustable vacuum advance. You want a vacuum advance for better gas mileage, smoother idle, cooler running motor.

That's a great price, I'll researched the ProComp and I found a lot of people thinking they are not good. Should I run 92 octane? Right now I'm running 87.

If you're running 87 and you can't make it ping, something is wrong. Either your mixture is off, your timing is off, or it's a really low compression motor. You said you can't advance it anymore, but you can move all the wires over by one on the distributor cap and get all you want.

If I was looking at the front of the motor which way would I move each plug wire clockwise or counter clock wise? Would this mess up the firing order or anything? Also what does this do for me?

HwyStarJoe that looks like a great deal on that GM distributor, I'm considering buying it. I have about 10 hours to make up my mind. Do you think that 65,000 volts is right? Would I need any stronger plug wires? Right now I'm running Jeg's 8.0 mm wires.

Timing is kinda important... Might I suggest you check your timing with a light, and map your mechanicak advance curve as well?

You should verify the timing marks first, they make piston stops that screw into a sparkplug hole. I did a thread on that a year ago, a search should find it if you're unsure of how.

To check your curve, use a dialback timing light (I hate them and won't own one) or get a timing tape or degreed balancer (preffered) I use a summit degreed balancer and adjustable pointer, it makes things easy.

Smog era HEI's have terrible advance curves, very long and slow, intended for zero to just a little initial advance. The "cheap new hei" is not a bad idea.

The only people bad mouthing Procomp are the ones that don't have one! I have one in my 63 Nova and it works great. I bought an MSD Spitfire to compare and its identical to the Procomp unit even under the cap.
65k spark is probably more marketing then anything, you don't need a super high spark voltage, the stock 25-35k is plenty so if they advertise 65k and it does 35k you are sitting pretty. 8mm is a great plug wire size, no need for larger. Like I said before be sure to get the MSD Advance Curve kit mentioned above so that you can set the curve properly.

Thanks! I'll check out that adanced curve kit.

If your car is stumbling at high RPM then you are advanced too far already. Back it off some and bump up carb it should be fine. Your dizzy is probably fine as it is. There are advantages to HEI but if you just want to get rid of the problem you have and you have isolated it to the dizzy then this should take care of it.

I have the distributor that Joe posted and it came with a paper stating 65K volts tested, I really didn't care if it was 45 or 65, my distributor was shot.
I'm running the MSD wires,MSD 6al box,and that distributor with int. @ 18* and centrifugal was 20*. I can vouch for it.
