Well, I've got all of my parts, subframe is powdercoated, old subframe is out, and I'm cleaning up the undercarriage. I've managed to scrape a sizeble chunk of the undercoating off, but there's still plenty left, and my 3M scuff pad just isn't getting it done. What's the best way to get all of this prepped for paint/POR/undercoating? Sandblasting is nt an option, and the car sits suspended on 4 jackstands...no rotisserie.

Next question...this car will be driven. It is not a concours resto, although I AM making it correct in most respects, improving others. What should I use? Paint, POR, or just undercoat? It won't be driven much, but it will be driven. I don't have a compressor, so everything will have to be rattlecan. Suggestions?

A commercial heat gun set to about 1000 degrees F. and a metal scrapper will do the job. Move the heat gun until you get the hang of how long it takes to loosen the undercoating and not turn it into tar.
POR15 seems to be the material of choice lately. I have used it in some applications and have heard of others that use it on just about everywhere on the car, except the exterior, with good results.
Renting a compressor and spray gun might be an option. Granted, you won't have the water traps, etc, but in my opinion, you will get a better finished product with that than a spray can if you use it on a dry (low humidity) day.
