I am restoring a 69 RS that was originally equiped with factory air but everything is missing.....compressor, brackets, air box, etc. I am going back mostly original (orange with no chrome) with the engine area but am thinking about using the vintage air in order to smooth out the fire wall and to have the brackets that hang everything low.
What's your opinion of using vintage vs original on my car?

I never had Ac in my Z but I installed it works just as well as factory. You lose a lot of bulk in converting to Vintage. You could of course use the vintage compressor set up and keep your AC cowl case. Just an option.

Are you going to keep V groove belts? If so the compressor and brackets from Vintage solve your problems. There are also plenty of other pulley drive options including some nice aftermarket serpentine set ups. For a smooth firewall, we have a Compaq Gen II set up that is a complete kit. Or you can wait a month or so for the new Gen IV set up.

I am very open to using the serpentine setup. I just like the look of the alt, being low on the engine and exposing the engine as much as possible.

I like this one, part number 22072

Shows the motor nice, Gets the compressor down low and in good position to run the A/C hoses behind the inner fender, or down the frame rail, also good for running the hoses low to the condensor. If you are going for a no shine look you could black powder coat or even paint since they are clear powder coated now. Don't worry about the price, we have some sweet deals on March.

For brackets, perhaps you can get tha main OE A/C brackets and easily fabricate the one or two you need to suit Vintage Air's Sanden compressor.
That's what I did. I drew the brackets to suit the Sanden and had them laser cut.

Looks completely OE if that's the look you want.
Even if you want the compressor in a completely different position, draw up templates and have them cut. Some welding and paint should get it finished.

The above photo is very much like Vintage or Alan Grove bracket for the Sanden compressor on my 69 mount. When I ran the belts, I pulled off the crank only with a dual belt set up that ran around the ps pump then to compressor. Alt was in stock route to water pump.
