OK, I just recently bought this '67 and am trying to figure a couple things out on it. The first is the passenger exhaust manifold. It has a little arm, with a bi-metal thermo coil. I could hear a tapping and moved it the other way and it sounds better. What is the point in the and can I get rid of it and how. I am not concerned about keeping everything original.
The other is it has cruise control. The module is there, but it isn't bolted to anything. Also there isn't any wiring going to it. There are 3 pins on it. There is a 2 pin connector rear by the looks like it might fit. Where does this mount and what is the wiring for it. THanks.

The little weighted flapper thingy on that manifold is the exhaust manifold heat riser. It helps motor heat up quicker. Sometimes they do freeze up or become noisy. They can be removed but they are factory correct. The more exhaust out of motor , keeps them open .
As for the cruise control module, there should be a bracket that holds it up to the fender apron. You may have to look for a donor car to get it as I dont know of any repop for this. There is a wiring harness that goes between it and the turn signal lever cruise switch. I have replaced the complete units with something more modern but retaining the turn signal lever controls. Hope this helps.

OK, that makes sense, I know the third gens have them, but they are vac controlled and freeze all the time.
OK, as for the cruise. I should be able to figure that out. WHat about vac lines. There is nothing going to it. SHould there be? or just the speedo and the wires?

On the cruise, they are vacumn assisted servos, have the little chain and cable that attaches to the carb linkage. The early cruise servos got the speed signal from the trans before it went on to the speedometer. Just looped in. But they still need the wiring . Take a look at Ricks First Gen, they list the cruise harness . For me like I said, if the servo will not control, best way to go with the system from JC Whitney for the newer solid state servo and get the turnsignal swith from Dakota Digital. Its part number is a HND-3. I have put these on in all my trifive cars as well as my 69 Z and other cars. Doing long cruises it becomes a necesscity. You will spend about 2 Bens on the whole kit .
