Hello all this is my first time to ask a question. I think I have it but always good to get counsel. Here is the info 67 327 2 barrel no smog no air 2 speed power glide. Stock numbers matching. I have a rattle noise coming from the front Water pump? The noise goes away when traveling but is present at idle both in gear and in park. After inspection the fan and pulley housing have some play. Removed the fan and pulley housing gave the water pump a good tug and the play is in the pump. Is this my problem? Thanks to all

The water pump should not have play. If you can feel movement in the shaft from side to side its on its way out and best to change it. If the car is original you may want to have the old pump rebuilt or atleast save the pump, post the numbers in tag team then want add area on this board and sell it to someone who wants an original to rebuild.

Sounds like bad bearings. If we heard noise (back in the old days) we'd wiggle the fan blade and if movement present, it was time for new water pump. Very easy job on that setup you got.

As suggested, since your car sounds all original, I'd consider having the water pump rebuilt, assuming it's the factor correct pump.

Greetings, I thought that car looked familiar. Welcome to the site. Sounds like your problem has gotten worse since we talked at the car show. You ought to post some pics of your car. I'm sure the guys here would love to see this original beauty.
