How rare is a List 4346GE carburetor? I found websites that have shown it to be installed only on 396 cars and COPO cars. Is this correct? I have a 69 z28, and I found this carburetor installed instead of the list 4053DZ. Thanks.

As far as I can tell the 4346 was never installed on anything from the factory. It was the replacement carb for just about everything that used a 780 in 1969. They were sold by Holley for a lot of years and are no where near as rare as the factory Z carb.

I think you are going to find that the 4346 was used on the 69 375/396 and the 425/427 cars.

The 4346 carb was used on all solid lifter BBs in 69. L78, L89, L72. It's not rare, but depending on the date code, it could be worth several hundred $$. They were offered as a service replacement for several years, and they are being built again, so it all hinges on the date code on the air horn.

The 4346 is correct for the L72 427/425 and L78 396/375 engines in 1969. A date code will be stamped just below the LIST 4346 on the front of the choke tower, and will be either a 3 or 4 character number. If you'll post those numbers I will decode the date for you.

Actually, the 4346 and 4053 are almost identical--in fact, they look identical. In 68, the L78 and Z28 used the same list #, but in 69 they each had their own. I suspect it was due to a minor difference like jet size or something.

I think you will find a primary float bowl vent on the 4346 that isn't on the 4053.

A new replacement 4346 is available over the counter for about $600, maybe a bit more... I have seen them on ebay used for as much as that and more...

They are not exactly rare, however the early, mar and apr, ect, 69 date codes bring some good money because they line up wth alot of COPO Camaro builds.
Some in the last quarter of 68 are a little cheaper.
What is the date on your's ?

Well, I'll be!! My 4346 has the vent, but I never noticed that the 4053 doesn't. Wonder why the b/b needed the vent, and the 302 didn't?

The numbers on mine are 954, which I believe translates to the 4th week of May in 1969.
