A friend is looking to possibly buy this `72 RS/Z28. It`s not show condition, but real nice. It has a 383 and a Ford 9", but the # match engine, trans and rear are included in the sale. Sorry, I don`t have any pics.
Is this a $25K-30K car ?

Personally I don't think so. The 70's are the hottest right now, and people are starting to realize that they produced 360hp stock, from a 350. The 71's are pretty hot, (330hp/350ci) but then it goes downhill. The 72's are less desireable, and finally the 73's are very hard to move.

Condition is still very important, as well as # match, born with driveline.

I would say, that in top condition, low mileage, a 72 would probably bring between 15-20k top dollar, unless it was a real survivor type (orig paint, paperwork, not driven in the snow etc) then it MIGHT bring in 25-35k.

Compare that to some 1970 Z's in top condition that have gone as high as $68,000.00 recently!

OK, maybe I was a little off on a #1 car, I just found a 72 Z on ebay where the bidding is at 40,100.00 and still has 4 days to go.......

71 and 72 lt1's were basically identical except for the rating change from gross to net hp. I would expect due to 72's rarity it would be comparable in price to the 71. I like the 71& 72's for their driveability, 9 to1 compression allows you to use todays gas without retarding timing or adding fuel additives.

From a collectibility standpoint 1970 is the one to own.

With out pics its hard to tell but they always need more work than they look like they do.$25 to 30k for a 72 Z needing resto is too much. You may be able to make money on it later but right now you would have more in it than it is worth after a restoration.
