I have never driven a car where a power booster has failed.
Heavy equipment yes, car no.
What are the symptoms of a failed booster?
The reason I want to know is because I am doubtful still on my car.
Ever since I installed the big block over from the 327, the brakes have not been the same at all.
Now with the added res vacuum tank, I have a full firm pedal, but it takes so much resistance out of my leg, my knee is starting to bother me a little.
Feels more like manual brakes than anything.
The car will stop, but seems like weight of the motor is now a factor.
Even if a first gen camaro was equipped with power assisted drum brakes like mine, I do not think it would have been that difficult to stop the car.
Car has new shoes all the way around.
Is it possible that I just need a new booster?
I guess i need to start checking on doin a conversion this early in the game.

I would check to be sure you are getting vacuum at the booster. You may have a leak there or as you say a bad booster. If your petal is hard to press, like it is when the car is shut off, your need to check vacuum and leaks. If the car sat a long time, check the shoes to see if they are glazed. Scuff the shoes with sandpaper and spray Brake Clean on the shoes and drums and try the brakes again.
