On a 69 Pace Car, was the pinstriping above the wheel wells an ordered option, or was in always included? If ordered which option number was it? My build sheet includes no additional option such as D96.

Also when striping was included, was it correct for the front stripes to stop at the back edge of the front fender or continue into the door? What if the car had decals?
Thanks for any help.

The pinstripes were on all of the pace cars as part of the required options (D96) when you ordered a Pace car. The stripes continue about 2/3 of the way back on the door. Actual dimensions are shown in the 69 Assembly Manual. The door decals were installed by the dealer if the original owner wanted them. The dealer buffed the pinstripes off of the door prior to installing the decals.

The pinstripes were originally part of the RS option package up to around February of 69. It was a mandated option that you got when you ordered an RS up to that point. They deleted it from the RS (Z22) package after that and if you wanted it you had to order it seperately.

I often wondered about that option .Because my RS/SS was unrestored when I purchased it. It had the original paint stripe's over the wheel wells.Looked like it was hand painted. But the car had no hockey stripe.
