so after 6 years with no heter fan motor, i finally decided to pull it out . i purchased a new replacement and noticed there was a large hole on the side of the new motor . Should I be concerned ?

If memory serves me right Mike, that hole had a rubber boot of some kind hanging out of it as a vent for when the motor was running, for cooling it... its been several years since I read that but it came to me I recall reading that. Was that hole on the old fan?

the hole is for a rubber hose that goes to the evaporator box for cooling the fan motor on AC cars . non AC cars don't have that hole .

But you can use the motor. You can close the hole with duct tape. Then you have a much more powerful fan.

the motor should have a plug for the hole in the box, for use on non-a/c cars.
They only make one now, it has to fit everything.

the original motor did NOT have a hole , I sprayed a little wd 40 in the old motor let it sit for a day , and now it works too . great !!! 2 motors ....
if AC delco is going to replace the motor with one that doesn't match exactly , why don't they supply the rubber plug to seal the motor .!!!!

You can go to your local hardware store and purchace a 7/8's metal plug to cover the hole. Put a little sealant around the hole and snap the plug in place. :thumbsup:
