View Full Version : wilwood brakes for protouring s4dustin Jan 14th, 07, 09:04 AM 6 piston front, 4 rear....for the track. anyone have any experience with Wilwood. Going to pull the trigger this coming week...thoughts? On a 68 camaro thanks D ProdigyCustoms Jan 14th, 07, 09:23 AM We sell and use only Wilwood, and yes we have all types of experiance with them from drag strip, autocross to street. And we have some fantastic deals on Total car Kits. Depending weather you want 12" / 12" 4 piston / 4 piston, (about $1500) or 13" / 12" 6 piston / 4 piston (about $2200), or 13" / 13" 6 piston / 4 piston, (about $3200) or the big boys, 14' / 14", 6 piston / 4 piston (about $3500), there is no better brake / bling for the buck in the brake industry then GP Super Stores Total car brake kits. Total car kits include E brake cables, Braided hoses, master cylinnder and prop valve. Everything but hard line. So just define you budget and brake / bling requirments. onovakind67 Jan 14th, 07, 09:42 AM Are Wilwood brakes legal in the Pro-touring class? Isn't there a piston limitation? ProdigyCustoms Jan 14th, 07, 09:45 AM Are Wilwood brakes legal in the Pro-touring class? Isn't there a piston limitation? Laughing. Silver69Camaro Jan 15th, 07, 07:19 AM I'm running the Wilwood 14"/13" setup, both with the SL calipers. Great setup, light weight. I'd avoid the 14/14 route, it makes brake biasing a pain in the butt (by personal experience w/ a balance bar). I'd imagine it would be worse with a proportioning valve. ProdigyCustoms May 30th, 07, 06:24 AM A little update. It has been brought to my attention that I should update this post as the kits have changed a bit, and include much more now and are priced a bit more because of this. After selling many kits, we found buyers still looking for misc little pain in the butt items, so we have included all these now. Total car brake kits include E brake cables, Braided hoses, master cylinder and prop valve as before, but in addition now all hose adapters, include rear braided hose, Since no one seems to have a pair of safety wire pliers just laying around, and they are a bit difficult to find on a Saturday afternoon when you find out you will need them, they are now included along with saftey wire. Also everyone wants to run killer fluid in their new system, so we include 4 pints of Wilwood DOT 4 High temp brake fluid which will give you enough to wet the system and one for the shelf. So the cost of the kit is up about $50 to $100 accross the board, but truely makes us a one stop brake shop without have to put a package together. Also, I should make it clearer that the standard master cylinder is the Corvette style and that the killer Wilwood aluminum master cylinders are optional. And as with all Wilwood sold anywhere, drilled and slotted is optional on most kits (our 13" and 14" include drilled and sloted rotors). Also, red calipers is optional at a additional cost JimM May 30th, 07, 06:45 AM Just wanted to post my experience with these brakes and this vendor. I did wilwood 12 / 12 ' s with a wilwood 7/8" master from Frank last winter. Big thumbs up for both the product and the vendor    Depending on the exact combo you choose, I highly recommend the (properly sized for your application) willwood master. My system is manual, but (very low) pedal pressure would have you wondering if it is power. Biasing is perfect with no valves or pressure limiters of any knid. ProdigyCustoms May 31st, 07, 04:30 PM Thanks Jim, always appreciate the kind words. |
