Email him and ask him if you can call hl say to ask some questions. I bet he'll tell you he doesn't have a phone. Ask him where he live. After he tells you ( witch he wont ) tell him " Oh I live ten min from there , can I take a ride over?" Bet he'll say hes out of town. Try it and let us know. I've done it a few and it always turns out they just want money first. 1969 Camaro Dude Jan 15th, 07, 08:13 AM Looks like you can buy his motorcycle on the cheap. No reserve. It is at $289.00 right now.:D http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Suzuki-Hayabusa-Hayabusa-2006-SUZUKI-LIMITED-EDITION-GSX1300R-WHITE-D-D-900MILES_W0QQitemZ230077619820QQihZ013QQcategoryZ5 0030QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem DVINNY Jan 15th, 07, 04:38 PM It's either a total scam or one really pissed off wife. mstehle Jan 15th, 07, 05:15 PM Sent an email. Let's see what happens. Pardon my inexperience but how do they work a scam? Ebay offers fraud protection and if I show up with cash and a cop he has to sell it to me doesn't he? When I signed up on ebay to be able to send him a message they asked for a credit card along with the approval code. If this is a scam set up can he be phishing so well that he already has my information? I am such a noob. camaromaniac Jan 15th, 07, 05:37 PM I would say you are falling right into his scam web! If I were you, I'd contact my credit card company to put them on the alert. What these guys do is to get just enough info from you (which you willing give because you just can't walk away from such a great deal) and then they start working to steal your identity. You will likely then get an email from what looks like eBay saying your account has been compromised and to log in. If you go for it, they (being a fake email) will have all the info they need to go shopping on your credit! Charlie Ghostbuster Jan 15th, 07, 05:38 PM He's listed this as a convertible? 1969 RS/SS DROPTOP Jan 15th, 07, 06:31 PM Thats a no brainer, its a scam. mstehle Jan 15th, 07, 06:41 PM Call him on his bluff. I decided to do what mnm99 suggested, not really sure why, must be looking for excitment, and in order to send him a message on ebay I had to register for ebay. In order to register they wanted a credit card number to verify who I am. Is this normal ebay practice? I called my credit card company and they told me there is a $1.00 charge from Ebay. Is this normal? Geez, now I am worried. I was just noodling around and now I am worried about identity and credit card theft. What a dink I am sometimes. ss350camaro Jan 15th, 07, 07:21 PM It's normal for a $1 charge to show up. It's how they (ebay) verify the identity. After they receive confirmation the charge is canceled. I had to use it once for bidding over 15K for an item. But that does not take away from the many team members as well as myself that believe this particular camaro is a scam. I am surprised the author did not post you had to email him/her at some other address and not go through ebay, which is always a dead give away. Too many ebayers have had their identity stolen buy believing a email came to them through ebay asking for information or their account would be closed and even though it looked legit on the surface it was fraud. Then the scammer takes the stolen account and tries to sell, normally within 1 to three days. It is everywhere on ebay as noted on this website many times. After awhile you become pretty good at spotting "scam". Wish I had a dollar for every 2nd offer I was offerered and not through ebay. Ebay has been great for the car hobbyist but as with everything in life we have some bad apples. And the prices being generated for both cars and parts bring out a lot of bad iapples (people.) Gary L Jan 15th, 07, 08:18 PM What happens if I hit BIN and don't pay? mstehle Jan 16th, 07, 08:16 PM Update: I got a reply form the guy saying his brother has the car in San Diego and he even offered to pay the shipping. What a deal :hurray: . I have asked for a phone number, an address to see the car and a pic of the cowl tag. Kinda fun to see where this goes. He does insist everything go through Ebay...interesting. Says he is British and is in U.K. with his wife while he is having knee surgery. I told him I would go see the car and make the transaction while his brother was there. Doubt I will hear from him again, but we'll see. Not making room in my garage yet lol mstehle Jan 16th, 07, 09:01 PM Gone. |
