Hey all,

A mechanic told me my head gaskets were shot, so they said replace them and your engine will stop over heating. Well, as you can guess after all that work, in -30C weather (I kind not), it still over heated. We removed the thermostat, and it works fine, so it has to be the water pump.

It has A/C its a 95 Z28 with a 6speed. We (my brother and I) have never worked on a gear driven(?) water pump, does anyone have any advice? Or maybe a website with a step by step on how to do it?

Any help, will be appreciated!

Thanks!

it is very similar to a regular old school small block, just different.
take any bracketry off the front of the engine you need to remove to get to the pump, and take out the bolts that hold the pump to the block.
you did check everything to make sure the pump is bad, and that the radiator isn't clogged up, or the fins of the ac condenser or rad aren't all clogged up with dust that stops the airflow, correct?
fans working? lower hose not collapsing? all air bled out of the system"
does the heater blow hot when it overheats? if it does, then the pump is pumping hot water thru the heater core, so the pump isn't bad. maybe one of the heads is warped or cracked- you did check that when it was apart, right?
