View Full Version : 1969 Z/28
blown72 Jan 17th, 07, 03:39 PM This is my frist post here, I have been a Team Chevelle member for some time and found your link there.
I have been watching the 07 Barrett Jackson Auction and was wondering what any one on here could tell me about my Z. In 1993 I bought a 1969 Z/28 for $4700.00 it was not in the best of shape but the floors and trunk were like new and it was all there minus the distirbutor and the exhuast manifolds and smog system.
Snice then I have been slowly working on a complete restoration. I have all the doc's on the car it has 71 thousand miles on it but has a few rare combinations and was wondering how rare?
X-33 D80 numbers matching 302, cowl induction hood, M-21 4 speed, 12 bolt with 4-10 gears, Rally Green car with blak viynal top black stripes, 711 black basic interior no console no gauge pack just an 8 grand tach speedo and gas gauge.
I see alot of z/28's out there but very few are rally green with no interior options does any one know or know were I can find out how many were Rally Green, bare bones interior cars were made and just out of curiousty what do you think it is worth. I am taking my time on this one because I could never replace it.
thanks for the info
Angelo

Welcome. Regarding your question aprox 5.4% of 69 Camaros were Rallye Green. I don't believe there is a breakdown by model. Here is more info on paint color breakdown from Camaro Research Group.

This an excellent site for almost anything you need to know about 1st gen Camaro. You can spend hours reading thought all of the great information.

blown72 Jan 17th, 07, 06:43 PM Does any one know about the interior options, I know that alot of people put the console and gauge pack in the cars even though they did not come from the factory with them. But how rare would this be to have a bone stock basic interior, Just the shifter coming trough the floor tach, gas gauge and speedo. Standard steering wheel absolutly nothing speical about the inside of the car.
No power steering, But has power brakes.
I have build sheet that shows options or the lack there of. I am trying to put car back to show room specs and tring to use as much GM stuff as possible.

Look through the CRG site. There is table that indicates how may cars were built with the available options, but are not specifc to a model.
PSteering was not required on a Z, but power disc brakes were. My car is bare bones Z, console no gauges.
RPOZ28 Jan 17th, 07, 07:20 PM Here's a RS/Z28 Rallye Green, no console or tach. Ed

blown72 Jan 17th, 07, 08:15 PM Not that I would ever sell my car but what is somthing like my car worth. I know what it is insured for and what I see other cars selling for but what what are some real world prices?
Like I said I have all the docs for the car, Build sheet, Original title, and bill of sale.
RamAirDave Jan 17th, 07, 08:24 PM With a top-notch frame-off, with the #s and paper, you're looking at north of $65K. Thats probably conservative, but a lot depends on the quality of the restoration.
The center fuel gauge is somewhat rare, although I have no idea what the actual production figure is.
zuma Jan 17th, 07, 09:03 PM This might help.....It was a Team Camaro members Z that is now for sale again...Has a few more options than yours but might give you an idea...:)

Yellow69RSZ Jan 17th, 07, 09:12 PM My X77 has a "plain jane" black std interior, manual steering, no console no gauges, and appears pretty original.

The car looks very nice. But look at the last pic of the bottom spring/shock plate. Its wider with 2 extra holes to the inside if the car. I don't recall seeing that type of plate before.
blown72 Jan 18th, 07, 04:39 AM As far as the restoration goes I am doing my best, that is why it is taking so long that and money GM parts are hard to come by with out the green. But heres were it stands so far, 2 full quarters, inner and outer wheel houses, tail panel and window panel all done with new GM metal. Doors were removed and fixed had some rust around the bottom and Pass side needed a dent pulled, fenders had rot around the bottoms and the was removed and replaced.
Next step I want to sperate the sub frame from the body and remove the rear end so I can get the body mieda blasted.
The more and more I dig into this car the more I find out about it, I am not new to cars I have been around cars and drag racing my whole life but there is something about this Z that it seems to be full of surprises.
blown72 Jan 18th, 07, 04:40 AM I will also try to get some pictures up on here real soon It don't look like much right now but you can see the progress I have been making

Its a later GM service replacment for the lower shock plates for a 12 bolt. I think the extra holes were for a rear sway bar on second gens. I cut mine off with a sawsall.
blown72 Jan 18th, 07, 07:29 AM Thanks so much for the great infomation! It is great just to talk about my car and continue to learn about what I have. I bought my car when I was still in high school and I will have to say that Thanks to my father I still have it. All I wanted to do was drive it (beat on it probably) I did not realize what I had at the time. Now that I have had this car for some time and the more reserch I do on it, work, time and money I put in it I got a new respect for what I have.
I probably shouldn't have started anouther project with my Chevelle but I wanted something fun to drive in the mean time. My camaro will never see the street again just becuase I would not want any thing to happen to it. So I am building my Chevelle to give me that fix. It is something that I can have fun with my Wife and Daughter with.
But again thanks so much for the great info and keep it comming.
I will be taking what pictures I have and scaning them to disc so I can post them on here soon!
