Do I have to remove the entire front clip to put the new inner fenders in my 69 SS/RS? I got the car partially reassembled with front clip on but repro inner fenders loose in a box. I hate to have to remove all of it. Any short cuts?

Yep, you can install them with the fenders on the car but it's a pain in the as... er neck. In my opinion, the best way is to install the inners onto the fenders and then install them both as an assembly. If the header panel and valance are already on the car it makes it a little more difficult. Be extra careful about scratching the paint on the doors.

The factory assembly manual ) or shop manual ?) recommends doing as a unit ( remove/replace the inner/outer fender together). I didn't and it's much more difficult to get the inner fender under the wheel well lip without scratching anything.

I pulled the inner/outer fenders off as a unit to get the inners out.

Put masking tape on the leading edge of the door / fender, valance panels etc. to help minimize dings during install. I agree with others that installing the inner fenders as an assembled unit is the best way to go. I might add that it is worthwhile to leave your bolts loose until you get it on and lined up. The inner to outer fender bolts and inner fender brackets near the firewall afford a lot of adjustment to get things lined up.
