Jonesy Jan 19th, 07, 09:18 AM Are you the seller??
I would question the authenticity of this block.
Pacecarjeff Jan 19th, 07, 09:52 AM I would question the authenticity of this block.
I would too.
bilodeaulynn Jan 19th, 07, 09:54 AM I would like to see a better pic of the pad stamping. That one isn't looking too good.
Also would need to closely inspect the VIN derivitive down by the oil filter.
Pacecarjeff Jan 19th, 07, 10:07 AM I can see just fine from here. :(
William Jan 19th, 07, 11:16 AM 2-3 sleeves, +.060?
Nice door stop.
69rr Jan 19th, 07, 11:26 AM The block looks like it has been decked and the stamping looks suspicious.
1999Hugger Jan 19th, 07, 12:10 PM No, I am not the seller. Just thought you would want to see the ad.
1999Hugger Jan 19th, 07, 12:13 PM You say the block looks decked. What do you see that makes you think that?
Also, what looks 'suspicious' about the stamping?
I am new to looking at engines in this detail, so I am just curious and would like to know.
Thank you.
Hylton Jan 19th, 07, 12:18 PM .060 over 302 = boat anchor.
satz28 Jan 19th, 07, 12:26 PM .060 over 302 = boat anchor.
Can't you sleeve the 60 over block and be good to go?
Vintage 68 Jan 19th, 07, 12:32 PM ... Just thought you would want to see the ad.
Mr. Hug;
Thanks for the posting, it is interesting at the very least ...
I would tend to agree with the other statements that the block, and IMHO at least one of the heads, are only really usefull as a Marine Stability Devices at this point in it's life (or death ...)
If it's been sleeved "two or three" (??? he can't count?) - then it's been decked ;)
He's aware if it's value, looks like @ none to him, so are "all" the bidders :D
As always JMHO's - not trying to bash his listing;
John
musclecarjohn Jan 19th, 07, 12:43 PM ...how much to bet op is the seller?
Hylton Jan 19th, 07, 01:12 PM Can't you sleeve the 60 over block and be good to go?
Only if your car is going to be a garage queen. NHRA guys sleeve all their blocks but they re-sleeve every week.
Pacecarjeff Jan 19th, 07, 05:02 PM If this block was YOUR original engine, and you absolutly had to save it -
it could easily be fixed and used.
But for a bare block with no ties to anything - why bother?
At this point, I think $1000 is a little pricey to keep your boat from drifting away. ;)
1969 Camaro Dude Jan 19th, 07, 08:25 PM Agreed.:sad:
