Took My 69 Camaro to the body shop about a week ago, Guy at the shop call and said are you sure the original color is olympic gold (trim tag 65 B).
Under the vinyl top the only color he found was RED. Whats going on, trim tag is olympic gold with black vinyl, color now is hugger with white vinyl ? Did someone switch tags or is the red a primer (body man said red looked like an old enamel paint)

Thanks for any help.

start out with posting your VIN and Trim Tag numbers in our TAG section. That will give folks some limited info. to help you sort thru it. Hard to say how red got in there but it might have been used as a full body color once, since it should be gold but is currently hugger orange, sounds like its been repainted several times. Mine has 6 coats of color on it. Since its a 69, when painting the car the roof gets body color normally anyway since the strip of color shows above the gutter. There might be a red body color under all the orange somewhere?

I agree with Jim. It sounds like your car has had a few color changes and the vinyl top probably was removed at some point and the car went all red. Maybe red with Z stripes?
Ya never know for sure sometimes............Fun to try and figure it out though.
