View Full Version : Reggie Jackson Camaro 800K
68camaroz28 Jan 21st, 07, 08:32 AM What are the thoughts about what Reggie Jackson received (800K) for the camaro? Seemed that Reggie might have been disappointed at that price his camaro went for, especially when other cars were just nuts as noted on other posts. Resto-mods going for more than 67Z28's. Thoughts? And did anyone notice the gentlemen that bought it, a local AZ contractor, also bought the last 67 vette for $600K(caboose), and Carrol Shelby's 66 cobra for 5 million. That is when you have some dollars  to spend on toys.
OAKLYSS Jan 21st, 07, 09:28 AM Although a very nice ZL-1, Reggie's car has had all the sheet metal replaced from the firewall back, as it was cut up from its racing days, which hurts value on these cars. Acually, 8ooK was just the right amount for this car.
Bgonz 69 Jan 21st, 07, 09:36 AM Was this the white one ??? If so , it looked kinda plain. Didnt have that million dollar look IMO. That Triple Green COPO didnt pull big money either.

JOE58 Jan 21st, 07, 09:44 AM There seems to be a credibility problem with Chevys with all the fake cars and fake paperwork problems.
There is no Chevy guru like the Ford community has Kevin Marti or Mopar has Galen Govier, Pontiac has Pontiac Historical Services, Corvette has NCRS.
There was the COPO Connection for the ZL1 Camaro and other SHP Chevys but if you go to the web site there is only this post....
quote
"After 25 years of service, The COPO Connection officially closed its doors and ended its COPO Registry and Verification process as of April 7, 2006. All outstanding certificates and informational letters issued were cancelled at that time and are null and void.
These documents should not be used as a basis for verifying any vehicle as a COPO or relied upon for substantiation of options listed."
I wonder if this has had an effect on Chevy SHP prices?
68camaroz28 Jan 21st, 07, 10:46 AM Yes Bob, the white one.
Unreal Jan 21st, 07, 10:53 AM That's what law suits (or threats thereof) do to anything!!
68Baldwin Jan 21st, 07, 12:03 PM I believe they mention the new buyer as Ron Pratt??

Mike69X66 Jan 21st, 07, 04:34 PM Pratt has one of the biggest private collections in the country. I don't recall ever hearing that he is a contractor.

I mentioned this here sevral year's ago and how that with all the fake car's fake trim tag's fake paperwork , it can only lead to one thing people will buy the YEAR they like without care of the number's as said early in this post restomod type car's sold for more than the 1967 Z/28's , people are just tired of all the forged car's , I feel sorry for a guy that actually has a ligit 1969 Z/28 , it's just hard to believe anytihng about an old car nowaday's

68Baldwin Jan 21st, 07, 06:51 PM Chevythunder,More $$$$ Profits if you bid the job useing Illegal Aliens, which is common all over now. I can say this because I've been a contractor since 1979 and see this with my own eyes whats going on.Not saying Ron does this, just makeing a point that its not that cut and dry on what happens out there in contracting building business.I know a 35 year old Landscaper in NJ that is a millionair!Started with money given to him by his father, now owns several exspensive houses and drive some real nice expensive cars too! He uses Illegal Aliens to make his big profits.Anyway sorry to get off the subject, sooooo back to the ZL1 subject....Didn't Reggie run this same ZL1 thru BJ a 3 or 4 years ago when BJ still had a reserve on the cars??? I think it bid to $325,000.00 but did not meet reserve....Dan

Calling Pratt a contractor is like calling a 69 Camaro ZL1 an old Chevy.
This guy is big time, in a big industry, in a hot market.

South Side Goons & Hitmen Jan 21st, 07, 09:40 PM Great Thread. I've been paying more attention to The Chicago Bears this week but I caught some of Barrett Jackson on Wed & Thurs. You gys are right about the Chevy's. It's sad to see that so many are faked. That's why I think one day the 1972 & 1973 Z28's will bring very good money as will IROC-Z's.
On another note a very undervalued car right now is the ZR-1 Corvette.
JOE58 Jan 22nd, 07, 05:58 AM "Pratte Development Company, Inc., one of the nation's largest wood framing and concrete foundation companies with extensive operations in Arizona and Nevada. The 50/50 joint venture will provide material and labor for concrete foundations, concrete flatwork, framing and trim for all Pulte houses built in Arizona and Nevada. Pulte expects to deliver between 8,000 and 9,000 homes "
Wow ..that's a lot of homes to build. More then the pop of some small towns!
buying ZL1s is like buying Hot Wheels to this guy. :)
68Baldwin Jan 22nd, 07, 07:38 AM Joe,Lets just hope that their still paving over the desert in AZ so Ron's company keeps on making the big bucks! Dan

Gary L Jan 25th, 07, 10:53 AM Why does non-original sheet metal hurt the price? I can see original drive train, but 1 of 69 (or 31 since 38 were sent back to the factory) cars seems too rare for a minor item like sheet metal? I am not a COPO expert so help me here.
superdave5150 Jan 25th, 07, 01:39 PM but what if its not origional:confused:

This isn't the guy they referr to as Mr. Ferrari?
jackr Jan 25th, 07, 02:54 PM No that is a different guy. Ferrari guy is the one who was just about bidding against himself the year before last. He was buying cars for a museum in Colorado at the time. Looked like he was using someone elses money. I saw him there this year but didn't see him buy anything.
