Recently bought 67 camaro with drum brakes. I am going to do disc conversion. See some cars with 2" drop but I want to know how does this affect tire & wheel options. I would like to do 16" front-17" rear or maybe even 17" front- 18' rear.

Ed:

You need to be very carefull slecting drop spindles for these cars depending on your goals and tire/rim combo.
Here is some info from David Pozzi on the spindles - http://www.pozziracing.com/first_gen_suspension_geome.htm#Drop%20Spindles

Hope this helps;
John

stock spindles with chopped springs actually improved the suspension geometry over stock- it puts the ride height right in the "sweet spot", so to speak.
a drop spindle does nothing to improve geometry, they just move the spindle up in relation to the balljoints.
plus, i believe most drop spindles use the later G body "metric" parts, which are smaller than the stock 11" discs that came on the older cars.

Run, not walk, away from the idea of drop spindles except the ATS spindle. They do nothing but create problems with wheel clearance in relation to the steering arm. If you use the ATS spindle approach it with caution to avoid clearance issues because they are engineered for function and not just form. You could make it easy on yourself and do as Derrik suggested by using springs instead.

After all said and done the drop spindels cost about $600 by the time you get it right. Different tierods, wheel off sets, and ect.

Thanks to everyone. Have looked at alot of different forums here. Lot of great info. I see 2" drop spindles are not a good ideal.

Ironblue, trust me and the rest of the posts about drop spindles...stay away from them. I installed them on my car and 6 months later I sold them on ebay. I converted to 2" DSE drop springs and the car sits just as low with no clearance issues.
