Kevin buenymayor Jan 23rd, 07, 02:43 AM I used that stuff years ago. It looks nice, but you have to keep going back to touch it up. Jerry has a process to restore manifolds that is supposed to last forever. You might give him a call. http://www.z28camaro.com/ JohnZ Jan 23rd, 07, 06:17 PM Forget Calyx - it never dries, requires constant touch-up, and rubs off on anything that touches it (like the sleeves on judges' shirts  ). Lightly bead-blast them to get the rust off and apply Eastwood's "Factory Gray" manifold coating, or have Jerry re-skin them. tomg Jan 23rd, 07, 06:26 PM JohnZ, I picked up some of that stuff from Eastwood you mentioned for the manifolds. It's on my list next month to do. Have you used it? How were the results? Budz Jan 23rd, 07, 07:26 PM I've used the Eastwood brush-on coating as well as the Calyx. The Eastwood coating lasted about 4 year's, and to be honest, still looked pretty good when I decided to try the Calayx which is what's on now. I'm going back to the Eastwood coating for my manifold's. As JohnZ said, the Calyx get's all over you when you touch it, and mine already need to be touched up after only one season. jus4funn68 Jan 24th, 07, 07:11 AM As always, thanks for the input guys. Kevin 68camaroz28 Jan 24th, 07, 01:52 PM I used the por-15 product over 5 years ago and it looks the same as it did back then. Many of my car friends have not been happy with the longevity of the eastwood product but would assume how the car is stored, etc. would play into how it or anything might hold up. I'm aware of Jerry MacNeish's process but there is expense, hence I tried the por-15 product. I was looking at using his process for my 68Z28. Anyone have it? |
