Could some one please tell me what the correct length of the shifter handle, that the knob fits on. One that was in my 68 when I got the car is 12" long, including the bend at the bottom where it bolts on shifter. But it seems to short, compared to ones I see in pictures of other cars? Thank you.

Thanks Joe for the info. Are you saying the length is a total of 15 1/2" from the bottom of stick to top where ball screws on?

What is the number of your Hurst stick?
67-68 Camaro used #4106
Hurst gives you a verticle and horiz dim
It would be about 13 inch with a tape measure along the stick

here is more info then you want but I collect Hurst stuff :)
here is an early 4106 with the cool big Hurst letters.
You can still get a 4106 but will have the modern smaller Hurst letters.

I was going to rechrome this one but then found an even cooler old stick that looks like the one in the Hot Rod Mag Camaro 1967 article that they said was the first Camaro to get a Hurst shifter.
It has a different shape that I guess was used as a prototype that was then changed to the 4106 for production.
