I just got done taking the mono leaf set up out and had to open up the rear seat floor to get to the nuts for the bolts holding the front leaf bracket to the floor. Now I need to know can you get the piece to weld in that the bracket bolts to? Mine is rusted so bad there isn't much left. I am doing this myself and was wondering if I should replace the floor boards first or the trunk and wheel wells and shock towers first?
Also while doing this can I suport the car by the rockers?
Your help is really needed here. Thanks,Matt

You may have jumped the gun on cutting the floor. Front spring brackets are held on by three bolts that go through J-bolts that clip into openings in the body. Spinning, rusted bolts are common problems (I broke 2) but you just need to cut off the bolts/nuts and fish out the pieces. New J-bolts (better design) are available from any of the parts houses and clip right in. You should not need to cut through the floor.

Lots of posts on this problem on the site.

I didn't know how they were fastened in there. I jumped in and found out the hard way. Anyhow lets move on. I needed to know how to fix what the bracket hide because the bolt holes that are next to the rocker are gone and the one to the front is almost gone. The frame is in really good shape.
Well after looking at it for awhile I came up with welding angle iron 8 inch long to the rocker and anther to th frame. Then take a peice of 1/4 iron plate stock 8x5.5 inch and weld up to the angle iron. Then take theengine frame brakets from a 72-81 camaro and line up drill and bolt in place of the old bracket. You need to sim the spring with washers so the spring dosn't move side to side. Its not the way it came but it is a clean fix and it will be strong enough to keep the power to the pavement.
I am not a fab man but I think this is a pretty good idea to fix this problem.
Let me know what you think or if you guys have anything else I could do.
If this is the way I do it I will take pictures to show anyone who cares to look.
Matt
