I have a back half 68 and I am seriously considering untubbing and going with stock floor pans etc. Problem "A" seems to be the x-bracing for the rear seat and the factory sheet metal package tray. Does anybody have info on these to purchase, someone has to make them because they are on the Dynacore Camaro's
Would consider trading for non back half car if somebody wants to go the other way.
Great Site
Thanks

First the bad news. I think I read somewhere that some of the more obscure parts used on the Dynacorn body are not being released to the public (so that a competitor can't assemble the bodies and possibly undercut their price). The good news is that I believe that you can probably find these sections on some donor cars. I'm not sure about the package tray but the rear seat bracing seem to survive in all the first gen carcasses that I have looked through. I would search around for someone that deals in first gen Camaros used parts and maybe they have a basket case that they can cut one out for you (or point you in the right direction). It may be a little pricey so brace yourself. There's a guy about 20 miles from me (in middle Tennessee) that deals in these type parts (both aftermarket and used)... his website is www.jimmysbowtie.com ... I've only bought aftermarket parts from him but he looks to have a few acres of old Camaro carcasses behind his building. You may want to start there. Good luck.

wow that is a great site. I thought about doing this myself to my car but the only way that its gonna happen is find someone that is cutting those sections out and sell them to you. Or trade the car. good luck to you man!

Also look for first gen Firebird donors.

I alway's figured this would happen I watched all those clown's in the 80's with 35'' wide tires under camaro's and all the cut out floor pans and homemade framerail's , I bet they are in secret a LOT of what this post is about going on right now , I personally know one guy that built him a nice pro street 1967 nova in about 1985 to later find out from a previous owner it was a L79 , good luck and as said already the bird's are the answer here ,,,

Another suggestion.... if you are not wanting to go back EXACTLY original then you may be able to fabricate these areas without too much trouble. They are basically two large flat panels (for the most part). Depending on what all has been hacked out of your car you may be able to purchase the sheetmetal and stiffen the panels by either beading it yourself (if you have the tools or want to purchase the tools), taking it to someone to bead, or simply adding separate stiffeners via welded, bonded or fastened angles. Find someone local that has a Camaro (or Firebird) to measure and create templates from and then go to town. Some of the guys that mount an open battery in the trunk end up installing a sheetmetal barrier between the trunk and rear seat to meet the safety requirement ... so you may be able to find someone that already has a template or can give you ideas.
