I've been trying to find a 67 or 68 Camaro that I can restore for quite some time (15 years) and either the timing has been wrong, the car is more than I can afford to start with, or too far gone for me to attempt. I just bought a decent 68 Firebird which I don't want, but am wondering how hard it would be to make it into a Camaro, all except the Title and VIN. I know the quarters, hood, grille and tail light panel, but what about interior, and can I bolt Camaro body parts on without hacking the car to pieces and ruining the car. Am I better off to sell it make a little money and keep looking or are the Camaros going to keep eluding me and I should convert this car? I paid $950 for a pretty straight firebird. no rust, straight body, 4 spd tranny, no motor, no grille. If I were to keep looking for a camaro I would like the initial investment to be $5000 or less for a rolling chassis, with no rust that I can build the way I want...I'm not concerned with matching numbers, just want a body that I can make into an RS/SS clone with a hot rod big block. What do you think...should I sell the Pontiac because I can't build a camaro out of it, and keep looking, or will I never find the Camaro I'm looking for and building the Pontiac into a Camaro isn't that hard. I would really like an original 396 4spd camaro all original, but since I'm not made of money, I'll have to settle for a clone, whether starts out as a Camaro or a Firebird.
