I have a 69 Camaro Coupe, and I removed the roof rail weatherstrip retainer tracks above the side windows prior to taking the car in for paint. When I re-install these tracks what do I use to attach them to the roof rails? It appears the original material was a thick, black, dense foam tape. But I'm not sure what to use or where to get it.

Once I get that done do I use any kind of weatherstrip adhesive for installing the weatherstripping into the track, and also for installing the weatherstripping to the doors? If so what type?

Thanks

Check out the fisher body manual if you want detailed instructions. They recommend using body caulk between the retainer and roof rail.

I just did these on my camaro a few weeks ago. I used strip body caulk on the retainer to roof. For the weather stripping I installed it without glue so that I could adjust the roof rails. The holes are elongated to allow inward/outward adjustment. I noticed though that the new weathersripping fits great so I'm not sure that I'll ever add weathersrip glue though it's recommended in the fisher manual and the restoration guide i have.

That's a great help, thanks. I looked in the Fisher Body Manual once and didn't find it. But after you said it was there I looked again and found it. Sounds simple enough, and I appreciate your help!

I noticed when I used some 3m weatherstrip adhesive from autozone after it had dried it didnt bond with the new weather strip at all. Stuck the the metal thats for sure.
