Anybody got any suggestions on getting old chrome off.... I'm wanting to paint my old ones ... if I don't like it then I can always get them rechromed or buy some new ones. Anybody have any tips?
thanks

sandblasting is what I have heard to remove chrome. Rechroming pot metal is a VERY tricky process!

Sandblasting is what i tried here at work, but with very limited results, basically just dulls it. I probably need to go hit up the local blasting shop for some more power then...

Take it to a chrome shop. They will strip it fairly cheap. They us mercuric acid.

If you decide to rechrome, I used Pauls.....expensive, but top quality. I would not use a bumper chromer, unless you can see some of his pot metal chroming results.
