I think I need to dump my Win temp files but can't remember how to do it. Is there any danger in doing it?
Thanks
J

Jay, no danger at all.
You can either do "tools" " internet option" "delete history"

or, to clear out even more junk "start" "programs" "accessories" "system tools" " disk cleanup"

Careful, windows temp files are not the same as internet explorer browser temp files. Jim is right on for IE temp files if that is what you are looking for Jay. Follow the 1st part of what he posted from within your browser.

The second part Jim posted will allow you to select a drive to clean up then it will find tons of stuff and ask you if you want to delete all or part of what it found. It can be handy but you can also delete programs you don't run very often so be careful if you go this route.

Helpdesk folks spend more time fixing what the PC user deleted when they try to clean up their PCs than any other trouble that occurs except for maybe virus issues...

Log in with full Admin permissions
Open explorer (my computer) /tools/folder options/veiw and tick "show hiiden files and un tick "show system files"
Now go to
C:/Doc and settings
You will see each user appears
In each user is a folder local settings/temp....
you can de;ete all the files /folders in there
If some do not delete because the O/S is using it will say so and stop u....
Delete them in blocks and unselect the ones windows tells u are in use

U can also delete all fills in Temp internet there...it will give u the opition of deleting coookies....if u do this u will have to log on to web site u have set to auto log on.
Windows also has a temp file in C:\windows\Temp...generally windows keepsa this one fairly clear, again use the same proceedure as above
Also in C:\windows u will find a heap of hidden folders like "$NtUninstallKB898461$" these are to uninstall an update if u so wish to ...if u are happy with the updates u have, no bugd, these can also be deleted.
